Half Term in Tier 3

Well it’s half term and we should be in Cornwall! instead we are in Rainy Bury.

Tier 3 means that you can not stay overnight in another location, well one outside of your local area. We live in Greater Manchester so we are limited to Greater Manchester. So the Caravan and Motorhome Club site at Burrs Country Park in Bury it is. Other than a 5 van site at Heywood I think it’s the only site inside Gtr. Manchester. We stayed here for 2 weeks at the beginning of August 2020. The site was an alternative to our already booked 2 weeks in the South of France.
I phoned and spoke to Ed who managed to accommodate 2 vans for 2 weeks by shuffling a  couple of pitches around. Continue reading “Hope Farm, Kent”

It’s Been A While

It’s been some time since we updated this site.
Sorry about that.

It’s been a bit manic hasn’t it?

We have actually managed to do some camping but not as much as we had hoped to do this year.
We have been on 3 D.A. “Pop Up Sites” and we managed to get a fortnight in Kent on a great little site. Hope Farm, a Camping & Caravan Club C.S. I’ll add a review of that site soon, it’s a great little find! Continue reading “It’s Been A While”

COVID -19 Isolation?

We are currently in the grips of a worldwide Pandemic. This is the most deadly virus to hit the word in my lifetime. It’s the most deadly because we currently do not have any medication or vaccine to fight it. People are being told to stay at home, pubs, clubs, restaurants, converts, public events all closed and cancelled. Schools have been ordered to close. People have been ordered to work from home if at all possible. Mrs CA is working from home and is classed as a vunerable person.

Updating The Sat Nav in a SSangyong Korando

Last year we bought a brand spanking new car a SSangyong Korando.
It comes equipped with a built in TomTom navigation system. The important files are stored on an 8Gb SD card. Updating the Map and operating system for the unit is as simple as downloading 2 files copying them to an SD card and inserting into the unit.

Just one issue. The unit will only read an 8Gb SD card! I have loads of SD cards but most are 64Gb so the unit would not read them. I didn’t want to loose the original info on the supplied card so I bought another. Continue reading “Updating The Sat Nav in a SSangyong Korando”

Advanced Planning!!

You all know how much I like a good plan. Well this time I’ve excelled myself!

With less than 3 weeks to go to this year’s French Adventure, next year’s summer French jaunt is now booked, deposit paid. I even know which pitch we are on!

First Time Out

As you may know we have bought a new caravan, Brand spanking new. We love it! We have not even been away in it yet!

We go to The Loire valley for 2 weeks in August so we decided it might be a good idea to go away for a weekend just to make sure we can use everything. And that it all works. So we have booked a weekend at Burrs Country Park Caravan & Motorhome Club site. It’s close to home, has electric and is easy to get to.

Oops

We bought a new caravan!

One of the conditions of our storage yard is that you must consult them before changing your van. This is to make sure you have enough space to store it in your space, so your new pride and joy does not mean that your neighbors can no longer get their van in or out.

Finally got to go Camping!

Ok so New Year was our last camping trip…. Boooo! Talk about withdrawal symptoms.

We have been refitting the kitchen along with a new dining room/kitchen floor all while working full time. It takes a lot of time! We finally finished well nearly. It all functions and is workable. I still have to finish the tiling and decorate but that’s not too bad right?

So we managed to have a “planning” session with Mick & Michelle. They came to ours for dinner a few drinks and stayed over. Ok so not much planning was actually done, but we had fun doing it. We also decided that Easter weekend was going to be a camping weekend for certain.
