Review of 2010
Bingham Grange, Bridport was good, as expected, but the grass pitch meant things got a bit muddy in the unpredictable
weather. This is one site we will probably make a regular visit to as it is only about an hour away from home but far enough to
get a completely different area to explore.
Woodland Springs, Dartmoor was a little let down by the number of empty caravans and camper vans on pitches around us as
it affected the atmosphere and we felt a little isolated. Apart from that it was a lovely site (our pitch was beautiful alongside a
flower-filled meadow) and brilliant for exploring the amazing area of Dartmoor.
Our favourite site was Exe Valley Caravan Site, Exmoor, very friendly and a lovely setting. The facilities were perhaps not as
good as some of the other sites we have visited but everything else made that unimportant. Nice big pitches alongside either
the river Exe or the mill stream made this a winner. We will return to this site, hopefully soon, as we didn't do as much walking
as we had planned.
Brownsea island was a fantastic day out and we recommend it if you get the chance. The best time of year is in the autumn
when you can expect to see the red squirrels out and about gathering food, and we were particularly lucky squirrel spotting
and with the glorious weather.
