Wateringbury, East Malling, Kent
Saturday 3rd October We were off to see Kenny's son and family so booked into Hillberry Farm which is a caravan club certified site (no more than 5 pitches) for one night. The plan was we would all go out for a meal on Saturday night, and because they don't have room for us to stay and booking into a hotel seemed an expensive way to stay over, we decided the caravan would be the ideal solution.
The site was basically just a field with 5 electric points and a water supply. This was our first stay on a pitch with only minimal facilities! The weather stayed dry for the drive along the M27, M3, M25 and M20 but we knew it was due to deteriorate into high winds and rain later. What joy to know the night would be stormy when staying in a caravan in an open field!

restaurant had been booked, it was a long way to go for a take-away! But we had a good time and got back to the caravan
relatively early. It was windy and it did rain during the night but despite that we slept okay. After breakfast we went out to fill the
car up with diesel and check out the site where we will be spending Christmas - Bearsted in Kent. Although not the prettiest we’
ve seen, the site has good facilities and being in the ideal position for a Christmas family visit and look round Canterbury, we
booked it.
The drive home was uneventful and the traffic was thankfully very light but we got home exhausted. The fun thing was getting
the cover back on the caravan when both of us were so tired! It took three goes, two with the cover back to front and the third
with some help from our tall friends and neighbours who have a camper van and live across the road. They saw us struggling
and came over to help - what good friends they are!

October 2009
After following an AA route planner off the internet that took us
entirely the wrong way (I said previously I would never use one
of these again so should have listened to my own advice!), we
arrived around 2:30pm and set up quickly as there was not
really much to do for such a short stay. There were 2 other
caravans on site and so we had a choice of the 3 remaining
pitches, but Kenny was paranoid they were watching his attempt
at reversing the caravan into position so he did get somewhat
stressed!
