The Boiler Woes

So on our first weekend away we had an issue with the boiler.

Gas Failure message! We were on an CAMC site with electricity so no big deal we just thought our gas bottle was almost empty, which it was.

The next weekend we swopped the gas for a full one and a weekend off grid at our DA AGM was had with no issues.

The next weekend or Long Weekend was Easter. Would it light? Not a chance!

I messaged our regular engineer who was away (how dare he?). So found someone listed on the Alde website and made the call. He charged us £90 to come out, checked the gas pressure, blew out the exhaust to clear any cobwebs etc…. & then said there is nothing else he can do without talking to Alde which he would do on Tuesday when they open.

He forgot so on Wednesday after I reminded him he called and said he spoke to them and we need a new burner as the flame sensor had failed & it’s all part of the burner.

OK order the part and let’s get it fixed said I. Not willing to wait to go through the stupidly long process of a warranty claim through the dealer. He said OK.

3 weeks later still no part. By now our regular engineer is home and I contacted him to ask if he will take over as I’ve had it with guy No1.

I gave him all the info and he said he will check with Alde.

The next day he called me to say Alde are not happy with guy No1. Apparently the senior tech at Alde  didn’t think he had talked to them or ordered the burner as he said it’s very unlikely that the flame sensor had gone faulty, it’s more likely that the PCB is faulty. And if he had ordered the part from them it would be 2-3 days delivery max.

So our regular engineer is going to take a look at the boiler next weekend before we start ordering parts. Just to make sure it’s not just a loose wire or something as a new PCB is Not cheap!
