Plans Are Afoot

We have been to decide where to go on holiday in 2022.

Do we go back to France? The place we love and long to return to. This would be the 3rd year that we miss La Belle France and 4 years since we have been to the Southern coast. Do we stay at home on this side of the channel? For the last 2 years we have been to Kent, to a lovely CS site on a working farm with great views and a full service pitch (which is the way forward for a relaxing holiday) all for £20 a night.

The UK won. When you watch the news and realise that this horrible pandemic can rear it’s head with no notice making it necessary for various countries to impose restrictions on both their own citizens and visitors meaning that it is perfectly possible that you may have to leave the country at very short notice. It kind of makes sense to stay in the UK.

We did and saw a lot in Kent and we did like it a lot but I felt I wanted a change, but where? That started the eh-hem “Debate”

So where do you want to go says I?

I don’t know. says she.

Scotland? I hate midges, because they absolutely Love Me. I get eaten alive!

Back to Kent. There is loads to do. Well yes but I really fancy a change. We looked at everywhere! We sat don with the English Heritage and National Trust guide books a map on 1 laptop and both the clubs websites loaded up on another looking at the sites.

The big thing is we decided that we would do a 2 centre holiday…… Shock Horror, we are going to move in the middle of the holiday!

So that opened up our options.

We have even booked 1 week with Camping & Caravanning Club and 1 with the caravan & Motorhome Club. Purley due to location of the sites. We don’t necessarily prefer one club over the other. The prices are very much the same. It’s just the location that we picked.

So Where are we going?

Week 1

Normans Bay Camping & Caravan Club Site, a seaside site at Pevensey, between Hastings and Eastbourne.

Normans Bay

That makes Hastings, Eastbourne and Brighton in easy reach as well as plenty of National Trust and English Heritage properties in the area.

Week 2

Rooksbury Park Caravan & Motorhome Club Site, a site in the forest at Wickham, north on Portsmouth. That gives us all of Portsmouth’s attractions and history to see. Neither of us have been to Portsmouth before so we are excited to see what we can find.

Rooksbury Park

Something we couldn’t resist was a ferry crossing to the Isle Of Wight. Somewhere else we have not been! We priced up a crossing with the car and then managed to get it almost 20 cheaper via the Caravan & Motorhome Club website.

We have also made some more plans for both May and October.

As many of you know Mrs. CA works in a school. So that limits us to school holidays. Yep the most expensive times of the year to go away!
Plans for May were pretty easy. BALA! The North East Cheshire District Association (NECDA for short) run a THS (Temporary Holiday Site) at Bala in Wales every year and we have never managed to go so this year we are going!

Bala

Look out for the Bala Blog later.

October
For October Half Term we have looked at all sorts. Do we go abroad? Slum it in an all inclusive hotel? Take the Van to France? Do we do a city break? Barcelona? We love Barcelona. Bruges? Never been. Paris? Of course!
Well flights and hotels have become ridiculously expensive. So the decision has been made. France next summer for 2 weeks! No idea where yet…. the fun has yet to start with that debate.

So we are staying in the UK. But where ? There are so many places/areas we have not seen, but one that keeps rearing it’s head is The Cotswolds. So that’s it we are going to the Cotswolds. The booking has been made and we are looking at things to do, places to see. But more about that later in another Blog!
