Caravanning Is Dangerous!

That’s right! Caravanning has caused me an injury.
While caravanning this weekend I had an accident which has left me with some cracked or very bruised ribs!

We all know that there is copious amounts of alcohol consumed when caravanning. Well I can’t even claim that alcohol had any influence on my accident.

We arrived in the rain, the entrance to the field was starting to get a little churned up and the grass was wet.
We found a piece of firm level ground and parked. We got out a ramp and some blocks from the front locker, levelled the van side to side and unhitched. Levelled front to back and started to wind down the legs placing a wood block under each as we go. Using my trusty Bosch 18V drill and a kneeling pad all was going well until the last leg!

The last leg was wound down and in place. As I stood ( or attempted to stand ) I slipped on the wet grass and did a facer! I went flat on my face but trapped my left arm under my chest. The pain was immediate, I knew I’d hurt something! Not just my pride. I was soaking wet sitting in the mud thinking eww! my arse is soaking!

Ouch

“I hope I’ve got a clean pair of trousers in the van”. I did.

I finished setting up in lots of pain. So as soon as I could I started to take the anaesthetic of choice, Long Island Iced Tea. Still in pain but not as bad as childbirth I was assured many times. Saturday arrived and the pain was worse! Painkillers in hand we went to the Hollies Farm Shop at Little Budworth just around the corner.

We packed up in agony and Mrs. CA stepped up and did many of my usual jobs.

That afternoon I decided that work tomorrow was not going to happen and having been assured that “they can’t do much other than pain killers for ribs” I decided not to bother the NHS as it is just going to take time. So messaged the boss to admit my embarrassment and apologise for leaving them short handed for a while.

So here I sit, Tuesday morning, still in lots of pain still on painkillers. I did manage to put my own socks on this morning though, so that’s a positive.

On another positive this baby turned up yesterday.

TelescopeTelescope TelescopeWe spend lots of time when we are away sitting outside looking up at the night sky. The stars are always full of things to see when we are away and we always comment “wouldn’t it be great to have a telescope right now?”

Well now we have one. We took the plunge. Have no idea what we are doing but we did see some amazing detail on the moon last night despite the clouds.

Looking forward to taking this away with us.

Also these turned up.Mugs New Caravan Adventures Mugs!

We have a few weeks until we are camping again so hopefully I will be all healed up by then.
